Millennium Agility Dogs

Newbury, Berkshire, UK

Millennium Agility Dogs ('MAD') is a small, independent agility club of established, enthusiastic agility handlers and instructors with extensive experience in competitive agility. We are based on the West Berkshire / Hampshire border. All our instructors compete regularly and have qualified and competed successfully in a variety of national finals, both KC and A4A (formerly UKA).

At MAD the emphasis is on a relaxed atmosphere and high quality training. Members and their dogs benefit from the experience, ideas and techniques from the forefront of the agility show world and the informality of limited-sized groups with focused, positive, individual attention. Members of the club share a mutual philosophy in their attitude toward agility: fun, friendship and achievement.
We're all just a little bit... MAD.

Classes

All our classes are held indoors at Plantation Farm, Wolverton, Tadley, RG26 5RP
Exact location: what3words.com/amounting.golden.ballroom

  • BEGINNERS:
This class teaches absolute beginner handlers and dogs the basic obstacles and offers a 'taster' of the fun and partnership that can be achieved through agility.
  • Wednesday 7:00-8:00pm
  • IMPROVERS:
For those partnerships who wish to progress onto competition, the Improvers group offers handlers the opportunity to improve their ring skills, confidence and handling techniques whilst encouraging them to develop their own handling style and to broaden their working partnership with their dog.
To enter this class, dogs must be confident on all standard obstacles and working competently over training sequences and simple courses.
Improvers are invited into the Competition group when space is available.
  • Wednesday 7:00-8:00pm
  • COMPETITION:
This group contains dogs and handlers who are actively competing and consolidating their ring experience. The training emphasises sequencing, positioning, timing and partnership co-ordination.
Established members are encouraged through mentorship to appreciate show etiquette, understand ring-party duties, and to gain instructing and judging qualifications where appropriate.
  • Wednesday 8:00-9:30pm

Our Trainers

At MAD we pride ourselves on limited group sizes and top quality training from our qualified, experienced instructors. Our instructors bring a wealth and breadth of training skills to the club from such diverse backgrounds as obedience, ring-craft, working trials, working to the gun, plus equine show jumping and dressage.
Our training is reward-based and achieved through a positive system of 'Praise and Play'. We welcome the use of clickers and encourage the use of tuggy-toys and treats in early training. Our club is fully insured.
